Martino Centre of Dance & Related Arts is
conveniently located just off Highway #10 (Hurontario) on
Fisherman Drive in North Brampton. We are proud of our two
spacious, climate controlled studios with sprung floors. We
have washrooms, and dressing room facilities for both men
and ladies, AND a comfortable waiting room with a space
for our students to catch up on some homework and have a warm
snack.
The Martino Centre was established in 1993, and our curriculum
includes:
Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.) Ballet,
Canadian Dance Teacher's Association (C.D.T.A) Tap,
Jazz dance
including HipHop, Lyrical, Contemporary,
Acro, Ballroom,
and Stretch.
The Martino Centre of Dance provides dance instruction for
children aged 3 through to adult in a nurturing fun-filled
environment. Our dance season begins in September and ends
in June, with all statutory holidays being observed. See
the our Dance Calendar.
We offer a fun-filled introduction to dance for 3 to 5 year-olds
called TINY TOES. For older students
who wish only to dance once a week, we offer the Recreational
Level Program. And, for the serious dance student,
wishing to complete the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, we
provide our Dance Company Program,
As part of the Company Program, students have the opportunity
to take part in festivals and several dance competititons
throughout the course of the year.
The Centre provides the serious dance student with a rigorous
foundation in classical ballet neccessary for succefully completing
R.A.D. exams. In addition, our affiliation with the Canadian
Dance Teacher's Association (C.D.T.A), affords serious students
with the requisite training in tap in order to complete exams
which will lead to accreditation as a C.D.T.A. dance intructor.

CENTRE OF DANCE - Company Program |
The
Company Program is designed for the more dedicated student
who is possibly planning a future in dance or who simply wants
to work to their full potential and strive for excellence.
Consideration for Company Program students will be based on
the teacher’s assessment. If the assessment is favourable,
an invitation to join the Company Program will be issued by
the studio Artistic Director.

CENTRE OF DANCE - Recreational Program |
|
Our
recreational dance program is designed for the student who
wishes to explore the world of dance in a fun filled atmosphere
of encouragement. The commitment is merely a once a week
class per discipline with the exception of ballet in the
upper grades which may extend to two classes per week.
Students
in this program are encouraged to conduct themselves with
the same class discipline as our serious students but without
the pressures of competative dance, etc. The culmination
of the year's work is presented in our year-end showcase.
Although participation in this is optional it is highly
recommended as most students are excited to proudly display
their hard earned talent.
Classes
offered in the recreational program are ballet, tap, jazz,
hip hop and acro at both the beginner and more experienced
levels.
Our
programs are designed to run from September to June with
fees being paid by way of 3 terms, each covering a period
of 13 weeks.
The
joy of dance is truly for everyone to experience.
KinderDance
is an introduction to the joyful world of dance. Similar
to the TINY TOES Program, children will build body awareness
and musicality through creative dance, ballet, and acro
technique.
The
45 minute class is held on Wednesday mornings from 10 to
10:45 a.m. Sessions run for a period of 10 weeks. Children
should wear tights, a body suit, and either gym or ballet
slippers.
Pre-Primary
"A" Combined Dance
The
pre-primary "A" combined dance class is a 1 1/2
hour long class designed for the 4 to 5 year old child.
Covering the three disciplines of ballet, jazz and tap dance,
this program seeks to satisfy all dance preferences while
ensuring a solid technical grounding. These young students
will prepare a dance number to perform in our year-end show.
The
pre-primary "A" dance class is held on Saturday
from 12 noon to 1:30 P.M.
Primary
Combined Dance
Primary
"B" dance class is designed as a continuatioon
of pre-primary "A", building on the skills of
the previous year. The age range of this 90 minute class
is 5 to 6 years of age. Like pre-primary "A" the
3 varieties of dance covered satisfys all of our young dancers
desires as they work on a piece to present at year-end.
A solid grounding of the pre-primary R.A.D. syllabus is
laid by year end as they head into the next dance season
and their dance classes are no longer combined but take
on separate entities.

CENTRE OF DANCE - Adult Program |
The
Martino Centre offers classes at the Beginner and Intermediate
levels in 10 week session courses. The traditional ballroom
dances are explored in each class before things really heat
up with some Latin dancing. Come with a partner or come alone
for a great night out.

company students are the students who participate in the out
of town festivals. These festivals are presented at a Parents'
meeting in early November. All competing students must be
studying ballet. All other groups competing will be at the
